I’m in Boston for work - and I had a free hour or so - so I did a geocache.

I found the first geocache placed in the North East USA, way back in the summer of 2000. At the top of ‘Horn Pond Mountain’. There’s an interesting article here.

Nice jog - weather was terrible - rain, humidity and warm. And no view of Boston - just haze and fog.

I use Citysearch to look for new and interesting places to eat and go out.

It won’t let me enter my location ‘Draper’ - it complains about ‘Inappropriate Content’:

Looking at the content all I can assume is that ‘Draper’ contains ‘rape’ - and that’s bad.

I hope they don’t extend the service to people living in Cockermouth or Scunthorpe.

So finally we got to see “An Inconvenient Truth” - and it was stunning. A really well produced - but not slick and markety - and thought provoking film.

Al Gore did a great job of presenting the arguments - and did so in a very humbling, personal way.

A “must see” for everyone. Actually - I’ll make that stronger - if you live in the developed world - and especially within the US - you must see this movie. Go with an open mind.

… again.

Not a lot I can say really. I thought we would be getting Germany and losing on penalties.

An interesting campaign from the Organic Consumers Association to pursuade Starbucks to stop using ‘crappy hormone filled milk’.

The time has come to kick rBGH off the market, once and for all. If Starbucks, a major buyer of milk, were to reject rBGH dairy products, we could effectively eliminate it from the market.

Similarly, while Starbucks has slowly bought more certified Fair Trade coffee, it represents only a very small percentage of their total coffee (about 3.7%). Starbucks rarely offers certified Fair Trade coffee as their coffee of the day, nor has it followed its own policy of brewing Fair Trade coffee, on demand.

I’ll be away this weekend - and I’ll miss the Utah Arts Festival. That’s always good fun.

I will be around for the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival - Aoife really liked that last year. Best of all it’s free!

We started Geocaching about four years ago; stopped and started a few times when Aoife was really small - and now we’ve started up again.

The weather is perfect in Utah right now for hunting for caches.

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.
